The Future Of Bass

Monday, February 22nd, 2010

Experimental bass music coming from the UK has really been taking a sharp twist as of late. Producers like Deadbeat , Pangaea, and Sigha have blurred the lines between dubstep and techno and have completely morphed the playing field. Joy Orbison has also brought a unique new sound to the dub game, employing a more atmospheric and vocal based style. I’ve really been digging these new sounds a lot and can’t wait to hear what else these producers have in store for us this year.  Below are new tunes from these producers, just be cautioned that they are all very long if you don’t have much time. All of these tracks definitely get a big thumps up from me.

TRG – Now You Know EP

Sunday, February 14th, 2010

Cosmin TRG’s new EP “Now You Know” has been released. This EP from Tempa Records really blurs the line between progressive tech and dubstep. TRG’s unique style is definitely bass heavy but doesn’t employ the traditional 2-step dubstep beat. I love how so many different sub genres are sprouting out of experimental bass music, TRG is definetely one of the producers pushing the boundaries in this field. Check out this genre defying EP HERE, on Beatport, and buy the tracks if you like them!

Coming off of the heels of a massive breakout year, Joy Orbison is set to release his next EP, “The Shrew,” which will be available on AUS Music on February 22, 2010. Orbison doesn’t stray far from his previous sounds in this EP, maintaining his softer, more atmospheric and melodic approach to traditional UK dubstep.
